About Osteopathy

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy recognises that the body is an intrinsically self-healing, self-regulating and self-correcting mechanism. By using manual techniques, from manipulation/mobilisation to gentler soft tissue and cranial osteopathy, the Osteopath aims to correct imbalances and strains, allowing the body to heal and repair. At The White Practice we aim to demonstrate how and why pain has occurred, and enable you to make the necessary adjustments to lifestyle to remain pain free. We encourage maintenance treatments where necessary to help remain pain free. What is the difference between Cranial and Structural Osteopathy? Cranial osteopathy is gentle, focusing on the natural rhythms of the body and uses light 'touch and holds' on different areas. This helps to release tensions held within the musculoskeletal system, and also allows strains and restrictions in the fascia, connective tissues and nervous system to heal. Structural osteopathy involves more articulation, stretching, massage and where appropriate, manipulation. |
